On behalf of my team and everyone at MongoDB, I'm excited to announce the winner of the MongoDB Hacktoberfest - Best use of Stitch contest - Stephanie Orpilla with their application, MorningPages. It's an application designed to improve users creativity by ensuring that they write every day.

Stephanie received inspiration from Julia Cameron's book entitled "The Artist's Way" where she describes an essential tool for creative recovery involving a daily writing practice. Stephanie's Stitch App makes it easy to implement this practice by enabling writers to quickly record their daily creative writing. The application saves the user's writing in a MongoDB database and uses MongoDB Stitch to safely connect the browser application to the database.

The user interface is delightfully minimalist, just a calendar which can also be used to browse past writing, and a text box to view and edit that writing in. The application was written using React on the front end and made use of MongoDB Stitch's tight integration with MongoDB's Atlas Database as a Service to store daily content seamlessly. Visit Stephanie's GitHub Repository to review the source code for this creative use of MongoDB Stitch.

I'd like to take a moment and recognize and thank all of the MongoDB Stitch Hacktoberfest 2018 Participants. As promised, we'll be contacting participants whose entries met the requirements for the contest to send them a MongoDB T-Shirt.

I also want to recognize our friends and partners at DigitalOcean, GitHub, and twilio, for starting and running Hacktoberfest.

Is there something you'd like to see Hacktoberfest next year? Let us know in the comments.
