FHIR® (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources) is a next-generation standards framework created by HL7 which promises to ease interoperability in the healthcare industry. FHIR provides a means for representing and sharing information among clinicians and organizations in a standard way regardless of the ways local EHRs represent or store the data. FHIR combines the best features of previous standards into a common specification, while being flexible enough to meet needs of a wide variety of use cases within the healthcare ecosystem. FHIR focuses on implementation and uses the latest web technologies to aid rapid adoption.

MongoDB and FHIR both natively support the JSON format, the standard extensively used in modern application development due to its ability to support rich data structures and objects prevalent in healthcare, such as patients, claims, policies, and treatments.

In this webinar we’ll cover:

  • An overview of our global cloud database platform, MongoDB Atlas
  • How to configure confidential workloads with strong security controls
  • Important HIPAA considerations
  • Concluding with a live code session with the FHIR connector
