Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP)

FedRAMP is a US Federal Government program that promotes the adoption of secure cloud services across the government by providing a standardized approach to security and risk assessment for cloud technologies and federal agencies.

MongoDB Atlas for Government is FedRAMP Ready and currently pursuing the path to FedRAMP Moderate authorization.

What is FedRAMP?

The Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP) was established in 2011 to provide a cost effective, risk-based approach for the adoption and use of cloud services by the Federal Government. FedRAMP empowers agencies to use modern cloud technologies, with emphasis on security and protection of federal information.

What are the FedRAMP designations?

Three FedRAMP designations exist for cloud service providers (CSPs): Ready, In-Progress, and Authorized.

FedRAMP Ready indicates that a third-party assessment organization has vouched for a cloud service provider’s security capabilities, and the FedRAMP PMO has reviewed and approved the Readiness Assessment Report. The status indicates that the CSP has a high likelihood of achieving FedRAMP Authorization.

FedRAMP In-Progress is designated to CSPs actively working toward a FedRAMP authorization with the JAB or a federal agency.

FedRAMP Authorized is reserved for CSPs that have successfully completed the FedRAMP Authorization process with the JAB or a Federal Agency. It indicates that all requirements have been met and the offering is available for agencies to use.
